What a Namibian tax invoice must include
A VAT-registered business must give a tax invoice whenever a customer asks for one, except for a cash sale of N$1,000 or less. Schedule VI of the VAT Act lists what it must show: the words “tax invoice” in a prominent place; your name, address and VAT number; the customer’s name and address; a serial number and the date; a description of the goods or services and the quantity; and the VAT, the price and the price including VAT.
Namibia dollars, and other currencies
The VAT Act needs a tax invoice’s amounts in Namibia dollars. If you invoice in rand, US dollars, euros or pounds, choose the currency and type the exchange rate: the invoice then shows every amount in Namibia dollars as well. If you’re not registered for VAT, which is compulsory once taxable supplies pass N$1,000,000 in 12 months, choose “No VAT”: the invoice is titled “Invoice”.
South Africa and Zimbabwe
If your business is in South Africa or Zimbabwe, choose it in the panel: the invoice then follows SARS’s rules, or, in Zimbabwe, is made without VAT, because a VAT invoice there must come from a ZIMRA fiscal device.
