Why there’s no VAT on these invoices
In Zimbabwe, a VAT-registered business must issue its VAT invoices as fiscal tax invoices, from a fiscal device or system registered with ZIMRA, within 30 days of the supply. A fiscal tax invoice carries a QR code and verification code that let anyone check it on ZIMRA’s FDMS portal. An invoice typed up anywhere else can’t do that, so this tool makes ordinary invoices, without VAT.
Who can use it
A business that isn’t registered for VAT: registration is compulsory once taxable supplies pass ZIMRA’s threshold of US$25,000 a year. It’s also handy for quotes and pro-forma invoices. The invoice can be in US dollars, ZiG or another currency you agree with your customer, and it never says “tax invoice”.
South Africa and Namibia
If your business is in South Africa or Namibia, choose it in the panel: the invoice then follows that country’s VAT rules, at 15%.
