What this means for you
Your figures, read back to you
$231.50 a month below the 35% band. Your band multiplies taxable pay by 30% then subtracts $85.
Your next $100 loses 30.9% to PAYE, the AIDS levy and NSSA, but across the whole salary you pay 27.2%. A raise is worth less than the headline suggests.
NSSA has hit its ceiling: a flat $31.50 on insurable earnings capped at $700. It still shelters $9.73 of PAYE, but no longer grows with your pay.

How your Zimbabwe take-home pay is worked out
ZIMRA’s USD PAYE is worked out per band as gross × rate − a fixed deduction, with no tax on the first $100 a month. An AIDS levy of 3% is added on top of the PAYE. NSSA (4.5% of earnings, capped at $700 a month, so a maximum of $31.50) is deducted before tax — turn it off if you’re 65 or older or otherwise exempt.
AfriTaxCalc uses the official 2026 USD figures and is checked against ZIMRA’s own published worked examples on every change.

- Method: PAYE = taxable income × the band rate − the “Subtract” amount. No tax on the first $100 a month.
- AIDS levy: 3% of the PAYE payable, charged on the tax rather than on income.
- NSSA: 4.5% of insurable earnings up to $700 a month — a maximum of $31.50 — and deducted before PAYE is calculated.
