What this means for you
Your figures, read back to you
N$9 167 a month below the 28% bracket. Only income above that line would be taxed at the higher rate.
Your next N$1 000 is taxed at 25.0%, but across the whole salary you pay 13.6%. Namibia has no rebates or medical credits, so the bracket result is the tax.
Social security is capped at N$99,00 and stops growing here, which leaves the deductible categories as the main lever — contributing 10% of pay to a pension or retirement annuity would cut PAYE by about N$500,00 a month.

How your Namibian take-home pay is worked out
Namibia stacks its tax brackets the same way South Africa does — each band adds a fixed base amount plus a percentage of the income above that band’s starting point. The first N$100 000 you earn in a year is not taxed at all, and above that the rate steps up from 18% to 37%.
Two things set Namibia apart. Social security is 0.9% of earnings but is bounded at both ends — never less than N$4,50 and never more than N$99,00 a month — and it is paid after tax, so it does not reduce your taxable income. Approved pension, retirement annuity and child education policy premiums do reduce it, sharing a single N$150 000 a year cap between them.
There are no medical aid credits and no age rebates — Namibia has no equivalent of either, so nothing is subtracted after the bracket calculation. AfriTaxCalc checks these figures against NamRA’s official rate card and twelve hand-computed examples on every change; our methodology page explains how.
Comparing with South Africa
The Namibian dollar is pegged 1:1 to the South African rand, so N$30 000 and R30 000 are directly comparable with no currency conversion. That makes Namibia and South Africa the one pair on this site where absolute amounts can honestly be set side by side — useful if you are weighing a move or an offer across the border.
