Uses the Usury Act's maximum of 1.6 × the prime rate, FNB Namibia's published 5% minimum payment, and the prime rate of 10.25% since 17 June 2026. Checked 23 October 2026; see the numbered sources. Estimates for guidance only, not tax or financial advice. We don't offer credit or arrange loans.

How it’s worked out

Each month, interest at the yearly rate divided by 12 is added to the balance, with any account fee, and then your payment is taken off. The calculator repeats this until the balance is clear, assuming you don’t spend more on the card.

Minimum payments

FNB Namibia publishes a minimum payment of 5% of the full balance. Because it’s a share of the balance, it shrinks as the balance shrinks, which is why paying only the minimum takes years. The N$50 floor is only an example: check your card’s terms. A fixed payment clears the card much sooner.

The legal maximum

Card interest comes under the Usury Act: at most 1.6 times the prime rate a year, 16.4% today. Fees count as finance charges too.
